Racing Safety Equipment in Houston, TX

What Is Racing Safety Equipment?

Racing safety equipment keeps a driver in place and protected when a car is pushed to its limits. It starts with a fixed-back racing seat that holds your body firmly through hard braking and corners. Around it go the harness, the steering wheel, gloves and the rest of the gear a series may ask for.

At Planted Motorsports, we are an authorized reseller of OMP and carry many of their products. Our range includes racing seats homologated to FIA 8855-1999 and FIA 8855-2021, OMP steering wheels and FIA 8856-2018 racing gloves. We install the seats we sell.

Why Racing Safety Equipment Matters in Houston, TX

A stock seat is built for comfort on a commute, not for the loads of a racetrack. In a hard corner it lets the driver slide, and the driver then holds on with the steering wheel instead of steering with it. A proper racing seat holds you still, so your hands and feet can do their job.

Safety gear matters most on the day something goes wrong. A homologated seat has been tested to a standard, and many events and series require one. Good gear gives you the confidence to learn and to go faster.

When Should You Consider Racing Safety Equipment in Houston, TX

Plan your safety equipment before your first track day or racing event. Read the rules of your event or series, since many set the seats and gear they accept. Then call (346) 329-0087 and we will help you match the parts to those rules.

Check the gear you already have as well. A seat's FIA label shows the standard it was tested to, and some standards set a limit on how long a seat stays valid. Replace any seat or gear that is worn, torn or has been in a crash.

What We Check During a Racing Seat Install

Every racing seat install at our Houston shop covers:

• The seat's fit for your body and your car
• Seat mounts, brackets and sliders
• Seat height and position for your view and reach
• The FIA homologation label on the seat
• The gear your event or series requires

OMP Racing Seats
